Advanced Credit Geometry
Class offered in two platforms: In Person and Asynchronous
IN PERSON ADVANCED CREDIT GEOMETRY:
Introduces properties of lines, planes, triangles, quadrilaterals, and circles. Methods of inductive and deductive reasoning are used in proof of theorems and constructions. The topic of right triangle trigonometry is also introduced.
The final exam will be in person on July 25 at Delbarton School. Delbarton Summer School will not be in session on June 19 and July 4.
PLATFORM: IN PERSON
DATES: JUNE 18-JULY 25
TIMES: 7:55AM TO 12:00PM
GRADES: 7-12
ENROLLMENT FEE: $2250
Asynchronous Geometry
Geometry comes from the Latin “Geo” meaning earth and “Metry” meaning measurement. Geometry is a branch of mathematics concerned with questions of size, shape, relative position of figures, and the properties of space. This course introduces properties of lines, planes, triangles, quadrilaterals, and circles. Reflections and transformations are used as a means of illustrating congruence of planar figures. Methods of inductive and deductive reasoning are used in the proof of theorems. Areas of polygons, circles, solids, and volume of solids are also discussed. Additional topics include a study of the trigonometry of right triangles.
Asynchronous Learning Model:
A course in which instruction is conducted solely online within Delbarton’s approved learning management system (Schoology). Students will complete coursework on their own within established course deadlines.
- Course materials will become available on June 17
- Students should begin coursework no later than June 20
- Daily progress emails will be sent to the student and parent/guardian at approximately 3:00 pm, beginning on June 21, and ending with the final exam on July 26.
- Beginning the week of June 24th, the instructor will post “office hours” times for the week. Office hours will consist of three one-hour optional weekly zoom sessions. One session will be conducted during the “morning hours” (8:00 am – 12:00 pm), one session will be conducted during the “afternoon hours” (12:00 pm – 4:00 pm), and one session will be conducted during the “evening hours” (4:00 pm – 8:00 pm).
- Each student will be provided with a deadline spreadsheet that will allow them to track their progress through the course material.
- Students should expect to spend approximately 4 hours per day working on course material.
- The final exam will be in person on July 26th at Delbarton School.
